Of Lightning Bolts and Chopin is inspired by the true story of Tony Cicoria who after recovering from being struck by lightning, developed an obsession with playing the piano, particularly Chopin, even though he had no prior experience with either classical music or piano performance. The work is characterized by thick, chaotic, rhapsodic flourishes which dissipate from time to time to unveil faint whispers of Chopin.
