Work Overview

Toccata literally means 'touched' and is generally a keyboard work where the player's fingers are required to move quickly. This toccata is no exception. It has regular repeating accompanimental patterns and is basically just two themes which are developed. It is, in some ways, like a transcribed improvisation. It uses extensively the tonal resources of the organ, and includes a large crescendo and diminuendo as the overall shape of the work. It thus may prove to be a good concert work.
