Work Overview
In a Dreamy Mode is written in the Dorian mode with two moments moving briefly into the Aeolian mode with the use of Bb in the bass figure (bars 10 and 22). The 8-bar theme (bars 5-12) is simple in style.
In the full version a 4-bar interlude (same as the Introduction) leads into a more complex version of the theme.
The Abridged version consists of the 4-bar Introduction, the 8-bar simple theme and the final 8-bar coda. It can also be used by more advanced pianists for sight-reading practice.
