I wrote these pieces for Three, a unique chamber ensemble that I perform with alongside Joel Brennan (trumpet) and Don Immel (trombone). The group explores a variety of musical styles including experimental, traditional, and popular music from Australia and around the world. Previously there was no music for this line up and we have been fortunate enough to commission a number of works from Australian and international composers, enough to complete 3 CDs worth of music. I wrote these pieces in order to explore some of the textures possible within the group and the experiment with some simple effects and looping ideas.
Instrumentation: Trumpet/flugelhorn, trombone, electric guitar and effects.
Duration: 12 min.
Contents note: As such -- Orange peel -- Waltzing -- Limbs -- 798.
Dedication note: Written for and dedicated to Don Immel and Joel Brennan
First performance: by Three (Musical group) — 17 Jul 15. Concert Hall, Hong Kong Academy for the Arts
