"In ancient Greek mythology, Amphitrite was a sea goddess and wife of Poseidon and the queen of the sea..."
The piece has been composed in
Visby, Gotland, as a part of the VICC2018 residency programme,
which hosted Piotr Nowotnik as a composer. The duet is the first
piece in the contemporary art music context composed for
Chinese bawu flute and piano.
The island of Gotland and its Baltic landscapes
were very specific as a maritime inspiration for writing the
piece.
