Work Overview
Christine Pan's new work was written as a result of her immersive experience in the Alaskan wilderness. Performed by the renowned Corvus Ensemble and inspired by the Teklanika River of Denali National Park, Christine infuses the work with her own fragility, as well as the immensity, complexity, ruthlessness, and beauty of the world around her. With contrasting moments of stillness and syncopated liveliness; melodies of the flute, clarinet, cello and vibraphone interweave each other to take the listeners on a journey down the river channels.
"Water collecting and depositing sediment is akin to the ebbs and flows of people and relationships that we share throughout different parts of our lives. May this piece be a reminder to cherish every moment and memory we share with those around us."
