Postlude : for unaccompanied bassoon / Simon Reade.

Work Overview
Composed originally in 2004, this work was meant to provide the conclusion to my song cycle on Michael Dransfield poems, 'Painting'. As the years progressed, the various songs of the cycle became independent works and as such this Postlude lost its context.
It now stands as a postlude to nothing - a mystery in a sense. It's enigmatic and doleful nature reflect a sense of loss for something that, perhaps never existed in the first place.
