Work
A Supernatural Pet : for 1 to 6 six-stringed electronically amplified instrument(s)
by David Reaston (2015)
Work Overview
An anagram of Pantera Sepultura-two iconic '90s metal bands-A Supernatural Pet nods to the era with low, distorted riffs and odd metres. Scored openly for up to six electronically amplified, six-stringed instruments, it can be realised in countless combinations, from a single electric guitar, bass, or violin to mixed ensembles such as five guitars and one bass. The work's three sections are based on the first, which is built from six rhythmic cells, each repeated six times to create 36 measures of six events each. That's 6 × 6 × 6-the number of the beast… or simply A Supernatural Pet.
