Work Overview

I wrote this work in celebration of my first grandchild when she was five years old. In each of the three sections I have tried to capture a specific mood or space.

In the first section I imagined her painting with all the freedom and lack of inhibition of a young child. The second section explores a different mood altogether such as when a child suddenly and for no apparent reason just "zones out" into a daydream world. In the final section I have tried to bring back the child's world of fun and frivolity. This, I find, is best observed at bath time, especially (as in her case) if there is a younger sibling involved.
