Work Overview
These little songs are part of a larger project 'Song as a Sacred Pathway into Nature', which was supported by the Australian Cultural Fund. The songs were composed while I was Composer in Residence at The Tyrone Guthrie Centre, Ireland, in 2019. I composed the songs with pen and paper, at the lake's edge. The words and music were composed together to be part of nature and to express nature. The songs were premiered at a luncthime concert as part of the Tuesday on Flinders, lunchtime concert series, in November 2019. The songettes were then performed a week later at St. Paul's Cathedral, Melbourne.
