This piece was written around Christmas in Belgrave. The first part of the piece is advent like, and there is a bird call which is reiterated throughout the music. I had recently found out I am to give a presentation about improvisation at Trinity College Dublin for their conference "Composition in the 21st Century" so this work also calls to mind Irish music which I have been researching for a number of years. The vowels, are utterances, cries, but perfectly beautiful, in contrast to the light bird like quaver motifs.
Instrumentation: Soprano, piano.
Duration: 3 min.
Difficulty: Advanced — alternative scoring and unusual harmony.
