Work Overview
This song is a setting of a poem by the Blind Poetess of Ulster, which tells of a bard singing about the beautiful summer. I composed the song mainly outdoors in the summer of 2020-21, for a Recession Charity Concert funded by the Shire of Yarra Ranges. Due to pandemic restrictions the concert has not taken place, so the piece is yet to be premiered but was rehearsed with Jenny Rowland (cello) and Claire Ransome (violin). The song was composed with pen and paper, with a theme I composed on the main street of Carrickmacross, Ireland.
