Work Overview
A setting of a poem by Irish writer Dora Sigerson Shorter (1866-1918). Composed outdoors, this song expresses a love for Ireland, but also there is perhaps a disjuncture between composing the beauty of the Australian forest edge, and the nature of the poem, which is Irish. Somehow this is reconciled musically.
