Work Overview

This work highlights the unique clarity of the vibraphone's resonance, from which my love of the instrument surely stems. I explore this resonance in the measured spaces between the floating musical figures and augment it with the subtle use of pitched gongs and humming. The title confluence refers to a "coming together" of both the resonance of the two vibraphones and the movements of the two performers. The overall effect is one of the instruments combining into one total sound and the performers movements conceived as one unified musical gesture.
