Work Overview
'In a Good World' is an energetic strongly rhythmic piece based on odd and even subdivisions and ostinatos over four four meter. All three players are required to maintain energy and rhythmic drive throughout the piece. Sections are repeated and offer an opportunity for a piano improvisation while the double bass player and drummer continue. The soloist could also be the double bass player or drummer; or the improvisation section could be omitted. After a return to the melody form a coda is reached and the double bass player and drummer halve the time feel creating a more stately spacious atmosphere and a way to conclude.
