Instrumentation: Piccolo, 2 flutes, 2 oboes, clarinet in E flat, 3 clarinets in B flat, alto clarinet in E flat (or alto saxophone in E flat), bass clarinet in B flat, contrabass clarinet in B flat (ad lib., or contra-alto clarinet in E flat, or contra-bassoon), 2 bassoons, soprano saxophone in B flat (or 2nd alto saxophone), alto saxophone in E flat, tenor saxophone in B flat, baritone saxophone in E flat, 4 trumpets in B flat, 4 horns in F, 3 trombones, bass trombone, euphonium, tuba, string bass (ad lib.), timpani, percussion (4 players).
