This piece is the final movement of Jandamarra - Sing for the Country - a music drama work originally for large choral and orchestral forces about the Indigenous resistance hero from the 1890s who fought white settlers and police in order to protect his people and country from invasion. As well as being a remembrance of Jandamarra and all he means to the Bunuba people, the song is a celebration of family, of language and of country.
Instrumentation: SSAA children's choir, SATB choir, piccolo, 2 flutes, oboe, 4 clarinets in B flat, bass clarinet, bassoon, 2 alto saxophones in E flat, 2 tenor saxophones in B flat, baritone saxophone, 3 French horns, euphonium, 3 trumpets in B flat, trombones, bass trombone, tuba, timpani, percussion (4 players), keyboard (playing harp and piano samples), didjeridu in G (opt.).
Difficulty: Medium — Advanced level Wind Symphony, upper secondary treble voices, upper secondary SATB voices
