Score & Part
Sonata for Clarinet and Piano / Adriel Sukumar.
Library shelf no. 788.62/SUK 1 [Available for loan]
Work Overview
This work is written in three unnamed movements, with both instruments taking on equal roles - neither is superior. The first movement is free in form, evolving as it progresses but never reaching its conclusion, instead disappearing into a low blurry nothingness. Out of this, emerges a free-flowing solo movement for just the Clarinet (or Bass Clarinet), modelled off a complex plainchant Kyrie form. After once again dissipating, the piano announces the third and final movement, a rhythmically driven 'Finale'.
