Work

Undone : for soprano, violin and piano

by Sarah Elise Thompson (2019)

Work Overview

The idea of becoming undone describes a form of closure. It's an overwhelming feeling to admit that you are not okay.

Recently I learnt valuable lessons where I thought I had to know all the answers and address the fear of vulnerability. But there is power in accepting how you are currently feeling and owning your own emotions.

The text is taken from a poem by Stephanie Millett and describes an emotional release and letting go of the past. The poem draws from personal experience with reference to leaving work in the fashion industry, the heartbreak of saying goodbye to a childhood dream, and walking into the unknown.
