Work Overview
The piece focuses around the human voice and all of the colours that can be extracted from the vocal. When I was asked to write a piece for Keiko Murakami (Ensemble Linea), I was amazed in the initial workshop with her and watching her sing and play flute at the same time. The technique itself is tricky but the way she sang sounded so effortless and smooth like the human voice. I was inspired by this session and so created an electronics part to accompany the flute extracted from my own voice. The idea is that there is one voice - the flute and the tape part - and the two blur together, trying to find the right words...
