Work Overview

Vancouver at Dawn is a contemporary classical work for oboe and piano. I am Australian and Canadian - my mother is from near Vancouver - and I am drawn to the similarities and differences of the geography of the two countries: small populations concentrated near borders, with huge expanses of contrasting natural beauty. This work is spacious and unhurried, taking general inspiration from the geographical remoteness of both countries, and specific inspiration from the natural beauty of the west coast of Canada - as imagined, as remembered through the eyes of a child, and then experienced as an adult. - Ade Vincent
