Moves from a quiet brooding slow beginning through various stops and starts to a climactic ending in accelerando. There is a brief reference to Gretchen am Spinnrade by Franz Schubert and a deliberate exploitation of hesitancy as a structural resource. Quiet parts of the recording are vague and opaque probably due to the resonant acoustic of the venue.
