Work Overview

The Latin text is taken from Peter Abelard's 'Hymnarius Paraclitensis,' written on the request of Heloise. It is built on one type of nature metaphor - light symbolism, dawn, morning star, sun - entirely borrowed from the Ambrosian hymns. The repetition of certain words suggested an antiphonal treatment in this setting, where the voices answer or echo each other.
