Work Overview

The allure of the work lies in its association with the movements and interactions that take place within a mechanism. The re-grouping of diverse sound sources eludes all narrative. As for the musical material, it is based on a collection of instruments dating from an epoque of the past, such as clocks, musical boxes, barrel organs and shellac discs. These instruments are re-examined and put into play outside of their context in order to accent their tonal imperfections and shift the attention of the listener to their purely mechanical character - this in such a way that the ear never ceases to cross between the musical and the mechanical.
