Katun River (Pt. IV) / Adam Yee ; text by Cassie Lewis.

Work Overview
Katun River (Pt. 4) brings together a number of elements (and recurring personal obsessions) in a four-bar miniature. The first is my friend Cassie Lewis's text, filtered through the main theme from Debussy's La cathédrale engloutie. The piano accompaniment is a fragmentary pre-hearing of my next stage project, which is an adaptation of Sholem Asch's novel Der Tehilim Yid. The pitch materials derive from a section of the weekly Sabbath liturgy which, on only two days of the year, are re-ordered to reveal the hidden names of Isaac and Rebecca.
