2021 Art Music Awards - nominate now!

2021 Art Music Awards - nominate now!

Nominations for the 2021 Art Music Awards are open!

Just like last year, the process is very simple: you only need your AMC or APRA membership, basic details regarding the category and the nominee, and a short paragraph of text.

In 2020, under exceptional circumstances, we celebrated the first-ever Virtual Art Music Awards in a spirit of defiance, while still being able to look back and celebrating achievements of the year that had been. In 2021, we are going to be marking a year in music like no other - a year characterised by the remarkable resilience and resourcefulness that our art music community has shown in the face of challenges; by sincerity and solidarity in the face of human frailty, isolation and loss; and innovation, creativity and sheer bloody-mindedness when confronted with obstacles in the way of making music.

We are now calling for nominations for the 2021 Art Music Awards in all the usual categories, committed to finding the best Works and Performances of the Year, the worthiest recipients of the 2021 Awards for Excellence, and the best candidates for Luminary Awards: individuals and organisations known for their long-term leadership, professionalism and championing of Australian work.

You only have about three weeks to send in your simple nomination before the deadline of 5pm AEDT on Wednesday 10 March 2021. You can refresh your memory by looking at the 2020 Australian music calendar - do remember, however, that state-based searches do not pick up live-streamed concerts where there is no physical venue attached, or works premiered online as pre-recorded videos. There were many extraordinary projects and premieres that took place behind closed doors, in the studio, in homes, in backyards, or via live streamed or video premieres - we have not been able to document everything, so why not have a brainstorm with your colleagues, share your experiences and expertise, and see what kinds of outstanding nominees emerge.

You can nominate once per category, in as many categories as you wish. Self-nomination is not permitted.

Please note that supporting documentation is not required with your nomination. Nominees will be contacted later about supplying support materials.

Do read the updated guidelines, now with an important addition concerning non-Indigenous nominees using Indigenous content (such as language, titles, narratives or themes). As an acknowledgement of the specific challenges in 2020, if six or fewer eligible nominations are received in a category, APRA AMCOS and the AMC reserve the right not to make an Award, or defer the category to the following year.

2021 Art Music Awards will be celebrated on 17 August 2021, further details to be confirmed.
