AMC membership survey: Digital Library is the winner

AMC membership survey: Digital Library is the winner

In late 2016, AMC members were given the chance to provide feedback on our membership program. The information collected has been extremely useful to AMC staff, and we would like to extend our gratitude to those who took the time to respond.

Our most popular service, as confirmed by this survey, is the AMC's online catalogue (i.e. all the information freely available on our public website), followed closely by the Digital Score Library and our (physical) library collection. 91% of respondents first became a member so they could borrow from our library and 66% of respondents listed the Digital Score Library as being an 'extremely important' service.

71% of respondents listed specialist AMC staff advice as 'very important' or 'extremely important' and over 40% of respondents are happy with our current mix of products and services. 'I am very happy and pleased that AMC exists, it is vital for country people and vital for Australian music', stated one respondent.

Not as well-known among the AMC's services were our free Australian Music Calendar and our Orchestral Hire of Parts service, in fact some respondents requested these services without realising they were already on offer. This is important information for us in terms of working harder to get the word out about our service mix. We also encourage our members to keep exploring our site to make the most of what is on offer. Remember also to catch up on the latest Australian music news on our online magazine Resonate, to inspect our MP3/digital audio service and check what's new in the AMC Shop.

We are particularly pleased that 80% of respondents are planning to renew their AMC membership, with a further 18% saying they will 'most likely' renew their membership. And it's not surprising that 38% of respondents first heard about the AMC via 'word of mouth', which highlights the importance of our extended new music community. If you're a satisfied member of the AMC community, we'd encourage you to talk to your peers about membership or artist representation with the Australian Music Centre.

Our members have unparalleled access to our library collection and opportunities listing, plus they receive discounts on purchases and advertising. If you are not already a member, we encourage you to join today and help us support the creators and performers of Australian art music.

Rebecca Cernec joined the AMC as our Sales Coordinator in 2013. She also planned and conducted the AMC Membership Survey towards the end of 2016.
