AMC x EMC: Announcing the Performance Line-Up at the Electronic Music Conference 'The Reboot'

The Australian Music Centre has partnered EMC to curate a performance line-up at this year's one-day Electronic Music Conference 'The Reboot', at Sydney's Powerhouse Museum on Tuesday 5 April.

This initiative is the first-ever collaboration between AMC and EMC, in a mission to ignite new platforms and career pathways for local artists who have been starved for performance opportunities in the past two years, and aims to increase the visibility of artists within the sound art, progressive and experimental music communities.

The open artist call-out was widely shared among the electronic music community, and drew in a number of high quality submissions.

AMC CEO Catherine Haridy said, "The response we have had to the EMC x AMC Artist Callout is a true testament to the breadth of music talent we have in Australia and the value of industry support across various stages of an artist's creative journey."

EMC Director Jane Slingo added, "The sound art and experimental electronic scene here is incredibly healthy and abundant in world class talent."

Following the open artist call-out, four NSW-based sound art, progressive and experimental solo artists have been selected: Mara Schwerdtfeger, Low Flung (Danny Wild), French Concession (Ella Chau), and santpoort (Julien Mier).

The artists will each perform a 20 minute set in a dedicated performance area at the Powerhouse Museum's 'Electric Keys' exhibition, and will be awarded a performance fee and a fully-catered day 'Rider Pass' to the conference valued at $290.60.

About the artists

Mara Schwerdtfeger

Mara Schwerdtfeger

Her practice explores the crossover between physical and digital environments through the use of field recording and digital manipulation. Mara's practice extends to print making, poetry, curating, and coding, frequently mixing these mediums to create works with an emphasis on world building. Informed by interactions and perspectives within environments, her work questions the coexistence and understanding between those who inhabit them.
