Australia Council Awards: Lyn Williams and Madeleine Flynn

Conductor and Artistic Director of Gondwana Choirs Lyn Williams OAM has been awarded the prestigious $25,000 Don Banks Music Award, announced today as one of eight Australia Council Awards acknowledging the significant contribution by artists in Australia. Also acknowledged this year is the work of sound artist Madeleine Flynn who receives her Award (also $25,000) in the category of Emerging and Experimental Arts Award.
Other awarded artists in 2017 are Kate Grenville (Lifetime Achievement in Literature), Stephen Page (Dance), Susan Cohn (Visual Arts), Rosemary Myers (Theatre), Steve Mayer-Miller (Ros Bower Award - community arts and cultural development) and Ali Kadhim (Kirk Robson Award - community arts and cultural development).
Past recipients of the Don Banks Award include Brett Dean (2016), Archie Roach (2015), Mike Nock (2014), Kev Carmody (2013), Jon Rose (2012), Belinda Webster (2011) and Warren Fahey (2010).
