Australian Music on ABC Classic FM in August 2011
Lots of Australian music in New Music Up Late on Saturday nights this August, and a great series of Sunday Live concerts from Brisbane, including new Australian music from Topology, Nicholas Ng and colleagues, and others. It also looks a little like Percy Grainger month, with Grainger featuring strongly in concerts from Townsville and from the BBC Proms among others. And there's plenty of other Australian music, including a world premiere from Elena Kats-Chernin, and recent works by Rosalind Page, Ian Munro and Brett Dean, and classics from Peter Sculthorpe and Richard Meale.
You can also listen to and read about Australian music in our online archival recording collection classic/amp, or subscribe to our weekly AMU podcast for new Australian music recordings and artist interviews. Recent featured music includes performances from this year's Liquid Architecture festival and a range of approaches to the keyboard in new works by Australian composers.
