Australian music on ABC Classic FM in May 2014

In May, on ABC Classic FM's Evenings , you'll hear seven concerts by Australian ensembles including works by Calvin Bowman, Andrew Ford, Gerard Brophy, Elena Kats-Chernin, Ian Munro, Richard Mills and Matthew Hindson. Ross Edwards's saxophone concerto Full Moon Dances is featured on Afternoons (6 May). The American Brass Quintet plays William Lovelock on the 21st and 24th. And Graham Abbott explores all of Peter Sculthorpe's iconic series of Sun Music works on Keys to Music (4 May).

On New Music Up Late you'll hear the English musician and author David Toop collaborating with Decibel at last year's Totally Huge New Music Festival (2 and 9 May). We wrap up our focus on last year's International Rostrum of Composers with Australia's entry by Matthew Shlomowitz on Saturday 3 May. You'll hear further collaborations between Continuum Sax and Match Percussion (10 May, with Natsuko Yoshimoto), Continuum Sax and Sydney Chamber Choir (16 May), Halcyon and austraLYSIS (30 May) and Speak Percussion and Topology (31 May). We also have two Syzygys: the Melbourne Band on 16 May and Colin Bright's new ensemble on 17 May. Plus a solo outing from percussionist Eugene Ughetti on 24 May to coincide with the month's New Waves podcasts.
