Making Waves

Making Waves is a monthly series of curated playlists streaming one hour of quality, new composed music. Founded in 2015, Making Waves shines a spotlight on the music of Australian composers. Fresh playlists are released on the first day of each month.

In September, the playlist theme is 'Spoken Waves', and composers included are Isabella Gerometta, Hanli Botha, Luke Hutton, Andrew Ball, Corrina Bonshek, Ben Hoadley, Samantha Wolf and Lisa Cheney.

Making Waves playlists are curated by Lisa Cheney and Peggy Polias.

• LISTEN AGAIN Shannon in Cologne. Home Cooked explores a new recording by Shannon Barnett ahead of her appearance at the 2016 Wangaratta Festival of Jazz. The Australian trombone player recorded the CD, Juan Playschool, live in Cologne, where she's now based. In her band: Stefan Karl Schmid (tenor sax), David Helm (bass) Fabian Arends (drums).. • LISTEN AGAIN Two Titans. Celebrating two of Australia's most revered pianists this week: Mike Nock and Tony Gould join forces for a collaboration with Monash Uni. Broadcast 15 August.

Jeremy Rose's 'Earshift Orchestra' brings together music and spoken word in a unique setting on a recording titled Iron in the Blood, inspired by Robert Hughes's The Fatal Shore.
