Create NSW pulls funding from Regional Arts NSW
Create NSW is pulling funding from Regional Arts NSW within two years, the Sydney Morning Herald revealed this week. The current funding of the peak body, amounting to $455,000 annually, will be distributed among its partner organisations. The decision follows a consultation process by Create NSW, the results of which are yet to be made public.
'The Minister has formed a view that regional artists and regional arts organisations in NSW no longer require a peak body. This is despite twelve of the fourteen RADOs advising Create NSW, in response to the review, that they wanted RANSW to remain', said Julie Briggs, Chair of Regional Arts NSW. 'The RANSW board will continue business as usual throughout 2021 and use this time to consult with all of its members and stakeholders to develop a strategy to support regional artists and arts organisation into the future.'
