Elena Kats-Chernin wins Sidney Myer Performing Arts Award

Composer Elena Kats-Chernin and playwright Daniel Keene have been announced as joint winners of this year's Sidney Myer Performing Arts Individual Award - the prize sum of $50,000 will be shared by the two artists. The $20,000 Facilitator's prize will also be shared this year, by promoter of Indian music, Mohindar Dhillon, and Jill Morgan AM, CEO of Multicultural Arts Victoria. The Group Award, worth $8,000, went to the Brisbane-based circus art group CIRCA.
The recipients of the yearly awards were announced in Melbourne on Thursday.
