Ania Reynolds and Carl Polke's Peggy Glanville-Hicks Commission Audible Lockdown is creating a buzz in international short film festival circles. The themes of this first lockdown are closely related to another brand-new work, and a third lockdown piece is currently in the planning.

Audible Lockdown has just received an Honourable Mention as a semi-finalist for the Prague International Indie Film Festival in the Best Experimental Short category, and will soon be screened in Canada as part of the Experimental, Dance and Music Film Festival. A private screening for a restricted audience will be followed by a free online screening of selected short films on Saturday 27 February at 7 & 10pm EST (11am and 2pm AEDT on 28 February).

The work was born out of the first COVID lockdown period in Melbourne, and the changes in the sonic environment of the city. You can read more about the works and watch the embedded video in Ania & Carl's blog article on Resonate.

Reynolds & Polke have since completed a second work on the lockdown theme, and are planning a third one:

'We're rapt with the reception Audible Lockdown has received so far, in particular from two fantastic international film festivals. Immediately after the premiere we were asked to create a similar piece for the Make It Up Club's Online Concert #29, which led us to make Rad.I.Us 5K (link to Youtube) featuring sounds and visuals gathered from the 5K radius around our home in Coburg during the 2nd Melbourne Stage 4 lockdown. We are also planning to create a third work in this series later this year in collaboration with the Centre Culturel d'Ambronay, France, as part of a remote international artist residency that we're undertaking for the Programme Odyssée de Résidences d'Artistes'.
