Reuben Lewis and Hamed Sadeghi will join the Australian delegation at the Jazzahead! industry event in Bremen, Germany (23-26 April 2020) as 'Artistic Associates'. The role was initially announced as a professional development and networking opportunity for one successful candidate to attend Jazzahead, with their registration costs covered and a $2,500 contribution towards travel and accommodation purposes.

The initiative forms part of the Australian Jazz in Europe project. This two-year market development project is funded by the Australia Council for the Arts and realised by the AMC in partnership with SOUNDS AUSTRALIA.

'We had an excellent field of candidates for 2020, and luckily we've been able to extend this opportunity to not one, but two Australian musicians, both following their own, quite unique artistic vision', explains the AMC's CEO John Davis.

Persian-Australian tar player and composer Hamed Sadeghi performs in a diverse range of musical projects, as well as composing and performing his own original music. His current collaborative projects, particulary the Eishan Ensemble, are with jazz musicians exploring contemporary and classical traditions of East and West. Variously described as 'Persian chamber jazz' and 'Middle-Eastern jazz fusion', Eishan Ensemble's repertoire consists predominantly of Sadeghi's original compositions with diverse improvisatory idioms featured powerfully.

Performer, composer and bandleader Reuben Lewis has refined a unique electro-acoustic language, devised through trumpet with extended techniques and preparations alongside live analogue processing with pedals and amplifiers. He is currently Associate Artist with the Australian Art Orchestra through their 'Pathfinders' program.

SOUNDS AUSTRALIA and the AMC will be providing a platform to support Australian delegates at Jazzahead. To register as a delegate under the umbrella of the Australian stand, please get in touch first with Glenn Dickie (SOUNDS AUSTRALIA) or John Davis (AMC) to obtain the code to register at a reduced rate. After this you can proceed with your registration on the Jazzahead website.
