The music program for the ISCM 2024 World New Music Days has been announced.

In late 2023, the Australian Music Centre submitted a selection of six works across six categories to be considered for the festival programming. Of this submission, Gary Daley's work Hunger (for jazz ensemble) has been selected to represent new music from Australia.

The title Hunger emerged from the composer's need to create and experience music and art. Written from an ensemble of bass clarinet, alto saxophone, piano, cello, double bass, and drums, the work is one of three international works selected for the Jazz Ensemble category. Programming for the category will be complemented by additional works by local Faroe Islands creators.

Based in the Blue Mountains region of New South Wales, Gary Daley is a highly-respected pianist, accordianist, composer and teacher, and is best known for playing in some of the elite bands of Australian jazz and world music.

This year, the World New Music Days will take place in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands from 22 to 30 June 2024.
