Katia Beaugeais: "The AMC have been a constant support"

It is an honour to be asked to talk about the AMC and how they have played a significant role in my composing and performing career.

The AMC reached out to me in 2010, when I won the International Society for Contemporary Music Young Composer Award. Winning this prestigious award resulted in my first international commission: world premiere of Manifesto pour la Paix for chamber orchestra at the 2011 Zagreb Biennale/ISCM Festival. It was during this crucial time of my composing career that I met ex-CEO John Davis, and subsequently became an AMC represented composer. The AMC have been a constant support and are always there providing invaluable advice and expertise regarding international commission contracts, publication of my music and my international performances.

Many of my pieces have been discovered through AMC's online resource library, including my latest sax orchestra piece, Together We Unite Through Music, which will receive its international premiere in July by the RCM Saxophone Orchestra at London's Royal College of Music annual Sax Gala event.

AMC's digital music shop library is a lifeline for me (and all composers), in allowing easy access for orchestras around the world to buy and download our music with a click of a button! A recent example of this is when the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra downloaded the score and parts of my string orchestra piece, Like Snowdrops You Will Shine, for its UK premiere performance.

The AMC have also been incredibly helpful regarding my performance career. My latest ABC Classic Sax album, Breath by Breath, featuring Australian composers, continues to reach international broadcasters, education and scholarly networks, thanks to AMC's online database accessibility.

Any donation you can provide will be beneficial, as the AMC continue to advocate and provide essential support for us all.

All the best,

Katia
