MODART 2011 concerts on Cockatoo Island

MODART 2011 concerts on Cockatoo Island

This year's MODART - a gathering of seven emerging composers and The Song Company - will be held on Cockatoo Island in Sydney Harbour at the beginning of October. The MODART initiative, started in 2003 by The Song Company and the Australian Music Centre, has grown in stature and served as a model for emerging composers' programs around the nation.

This year's seven composers are Leah Barclay (Brisbane), Tristan Coelho (Sydney), Demian Galindo (Mexico), Annie Hsieh (Melbourne), Ekrem Mülayim (Sydney/Istanbul), Timothy Tate (Brisbane) and Alex Van den Broeck (Christchurch, New Zealand). More information about the participants and their new vocal works are available on the AMC's MODART web page.

All seven composers have also written about their workshop experiences on the Resonate blog - follow links below to read the blog articles.

The two MODART concerts on 1 and 2 October at 2:30pm are a culmination of the program which began with initial workshops in May.
