Brent Keogh is a composer and multi-instrumentalist, performing on the Arabic oud, mandolin, mandola and guitar. He studied the Egyptian oud privately with Joseph Tawadros (AM), classical mandolin with Fiona Horbach and Alon Sariel, and was mentored by composer Tristan Coelho through Ensemble Offspring's Home Hatched Academy. Keogh was recently commissioned by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) to compose six dances for the world plucked string quartet Ensemble Rastanak as part of the ABC classic and ABC jazz composer commissioning fund 2021. These compositions were digitally released and broadcast on ABC radio as part of Aus Music Month in November 2022. He has also been commissioned by the Northern Beaches Council of Sydney to compose an original suite for mandola (octave mandolin), flute, cello and tabla. As a composer, Keogh has written for some of Australia's finest musicians, including Grammy-nominated harpist Emily Granger, classical guitarist Andrew Blanch and ACO violist Liz Woolnough. He has recently been commissioned by clarinettist/composer Maryanne Piper to compose music for Juno - an intercultural orchestra based in New England that includes some of Australia's top musicians including flamenco guitarist Damian Wright, saxophonist Gai Bryant, pianist/vibraphonist Ed Goyer, and double bassist Harry Birch.

Brent Keogh is also an academic and lectures in Music and Sound Design at the University of Technology, Sydney. He completed his doctorate at Macquarie university, specialising in World Music in Australia and has since published widely in the areas of popular music studies and world music studies. His current research interests include intercultural composition, global music industries and the environmentality of music production.
