Alexander Maltas : Associate Artist

Alexander is a Sydney based composer currently in his final year
of study at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where he is
attaining his undergraduate degree in music composition.
Throughout his time at the Conservatorium, his work has featured
heavily within the annual concert programming, being featured by
the New Music Ensemble and the Wind Symphony, with his work "The
Angels are Screaming" chosen to be toured by the Wind Symphony to
Japan and Korea in 2024. In addition to this, in 2024 Alexander
was selected to be a part of the inaugural Conservatorium Winter
School with Liza Lim and the Sydney Symphony Fellows.
Outside of these opportunities, Alexander was a part of the 2024
Hatched academy with Ensemble Offspring, has written for the
Parliament of NSW, The Sydney Youth Orchestras, and was awarded
third place in the 2023 edition of the Willoughby Symphony's
Young Composers award.
Aside from working as a composer Alexander has studied Flute
since the age of 10, having played for 4 years with Sydney Youth
Orchestras.
He has studied composition with Jack Symonds, Bree Van Reyk and
Carl Vine.
