Event Details

"A Space of One’s Own" is a creative exploration of our relationship to home, and what it means to build a safer, more supportive environment in our own lives, as well as for others around us. It’s an acknowledgment of the various factors that impact women’s lives and how communities come together to create an environment where all women can thrive. In March, our Dreambox members visited the Lillian Howell Project and were absolutely in awe of the work they do in the education, care and support they provide to young women in Sydney. We are extremely grateful to have had the chance to learn about their work in depth. Join us for an eye-opening experience of musical and artistic responses to this theme, featuring guest speaker Vivian Stavis (manager of the Lillian Howell Project), and the premiere of new works by Chloe Chung, Alice Chance, Deepka Ratra and Sandra Brand. The cost of your ticket will go towards supporting the Lillian Howell Project as well as ensuring Dreambox Collective can continue presenting concerts into the future. The Lillian Howell Project (Lillian's) is a specialist homelessness service providing medium to long term 24 hour, on-site gender-specific supported housing for up to 13 young women and girls from the age of 13 to 17 years. Lillian’s has been operating in Sydney’s Inner West since 1988. To read more about Lillian's, visit their page here: http://lillians.org.au/
