Join Julian Day and the Hon. Julia Gillard live on air and in the Eugene Goossens Hall, ABC Ultimo Centre, Sydney, for this Australian Music Month special live broadcast event.
The concert features the world premieres of seven newly commissioned works by outstanding Australian composers reflecting on the Hon. Julia Gillard's time as the first female Prime Minister of Australia. The broad collection of works includes a 6-girl choir, instructions from goldfish, spoken phrases turned into musical gestures, mouth organs and more. The music is by Cathy Milliken (QLD/Germany), Andree Greenwell (NSW), Kate Moore (NSW/Netherlands), Thembi Soddell (VIC), Michaela Davies (NSW), Gail Priest (NSW) and Decibel ensemble director Cat Hope (WA).
This special free broadcast concert by Decibel for ABC Radio's Australian Music Month is presented by ABC Classic FM's New Music Up Late in association with Tura New Music.
