Since launching his exciting quintet in 2011, drummer Andrew Dickeson’s profile as a bandleader has grown considerably. One of the most experienced drummers on the Australian jazz scene whose credits include working with international greats Lee Konitz, Kirk Lightsey and Johnny Griffin and local leading lights such as Bernie McGann and Bobby Gebert, his own group is a creative, polished and swinging band, in which each tune is a musical journey, for the musicians and the listeners alike. To fully display the talents of this ensemble, expect to hear different combinations of quintet, quartet, duo and solo drum kit. It’s a formidable unit that plays with passion and generates excitement.
