Event Details
Three exceptional young cellists, Yelian He (Australia), Edward King (New Zealand) and Ruben Palma (Australia), will each take centre stage to perform a selection of major works with accompaniment from distinguished accompanists including renowned pianist Phillip Shovk. The three finalists will be competing for a range of cash prizes and other opportunities valued in excess of $60,000; including the Allen-Evans Scholarship, destined to become Australasia’s premier award for young cellists. Distributing the prizes will be a distinguished panel of adjudicators including John Painter AM, Catherine Hewgill, Susan Blake, Goetz Richter and Nathan Waks.
The goal of the Australian Cello Awards is to provide cash prizes and awards, invaluable professional introductions and opportunities to help young cellists embark on a career or further accelerate their development as an orchestral cellist, chamber music artist or soloist.
