The brilliant virtuosity of Southern Cross Soloists’ wind players takes centre stage in thisconcert featuring wind masterpieces of the 20th and 21st centuries. From Prokofiev’s lauded flute sonata that was quickly borrowed by David Oistrakh for the violin repertoire, to Poulenc’s effervescent trio that is delightful, potent and ‘sec’, this concert finishes with Ross Edwards’ quintet The Laughing Moon, which draws inspiration from the rich traditions of our First Nations people and highlights the virtuosity of each wind soloist.
