Event Details
The world renowned Brodsky Quartet continues its collaborative partnership with Topology in an exclusive Brisbane performance. Centred around Elvis Costello’s acclaimed ballet suite Il Sogno (recreated as a chamber work for the two inimitable groups), this exhilarating evening will also include Elvis Costello songs and other original compositions including Robert Davidson’s (Topology) unique ‘speech melody’ work Three Men & A Blonde, as well as the premiere of Andrew Ford's String Quartet No. 3, commissioned by the Brodsky Quartet.
The Brodsky Quartet’s previous collaboration with Costello was a true meeting of musical minds where Costello famously laboured over mastering musical notation and the Brodskys found themselves in the wilds of improvisation. Now that fascinating experience leads to this – another equally unique and engaging pairing.
The Brodsky Quartet's energy and musical curiosity, that has seen them perform more than 3000 concerts on the main stages of the world, is a perfect match for the distinctive and unique creative ethos of Brisbane’s very own Topology. An exuberant celebration of musical virtuosity and imagination, Il Sogno blurs the lines of musical genre and melodic adventure. This is a ‘must experience’.
