For their final concert celebrating 20 years of community music in the inner west, Leichhardt Espresso Chorus will join the Tinsel Orchestra, the Inner West Children's Chorus and this year the award-winning Moorambilla Voices to present Carols on Norton in Pioneers Memorial Park, Leichhardt. The founder and Artistic Director of the choir, Sydney resident Michelle Leonard OAM will lead the concert under the stars.
The community will be encouraged to sing along to Christmas favourites by downloading a song book to their mobile phones. Carols on Norton is also proud to feature Australian Christmas music commissioned especially for the event by emerging composer and singer Dan Walker, and compositions by ARIA-award winning Stanmore resident and pianist Sally Whitwell.
“This choir has grown from its early days in 1998 into a creative organisation that has commissioned 187 new works over 20 years. With over 80 people singing with us each week it is a major contributor to the cultural life of the inner west, and one I am so proud to lead,” said Michelle Leonard.
