Event Details

This concert celebrates the release of Chiaroscuro, the first duo album from Jane Sheldon and Zubin Kanga. The CD was recorded with one of Stuart & Sons' beautiful pianos, handcrafted in Australia, and features 20th and 21st century works exploring themes of love and death. In this performance Jane and Zubin present a tasting menu of works from the CD by George Crumb, Kaija Saariaho, Arnold Schoenberg, and Australian composers Rosalind Page and Daniel Rojas. The concert also features a major work by one of Germany's greatest living composers, Helmut Lachenmann's colourful and virtuosic Got Lost, which the performers have prepared for performance in London later this year. The CD will be available for purchase at the concert.

George Crumb's Apparition (excerpts); Kaija Saariaho's Il Pleut; Arnold Schoenberg's Book of the Hanging Gardens (excerpts); Helmut Lachenmann's Got Lost

Featured non-Australian music: Crumb, Saariaho, Schoenberg, Lachenmann
