Sought after young Australian composer Alice Chance premiers her song cycle FIAT LUX, commissioned by the Leichhardt Espresso Chorus. The work featuring Australian leading vocal ensemble the Song Company and Espresso Chorus, examines light in a broad spectrum of contexts including historical, scientific, artistic and sacred. Conducted by Michelle Leonard OAM and accompanied by Ben Burton, join us in the glowing soundscape at St James Church as the walls resonate with woven voices and sparkling electronics. “As I have discovered through composing this work, we perceive light most brightly when it is surrounded by darkness.” Alice Chance - composer
